HOW TO FREE SPEECH?
It was in the name of freedom of expression, we are told, that editors across Europe, insisted the publication of very insulting caricatures of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Offend Muslims around the world was necessary, apparently, to make a point – that freedom of expression is a right inviolable.
Recent observations by the far-right Dutch MP Geert Wilders, openly calling for the Koran's ban, describing as text fascist at the root of terrorism and calls for the deportation of those who disagree with Dutch values / European, has also been protected by the provision of freedom of expression.
So it seems the west go to great lengths to ensure this provision to do so in the face of large demonstrations, threats and violent reactions. But freedom of speech is a farce and they are selective.
There are numerous crimes related to the 'discourse' between countries that claim to be the bastions of freedom of expression. There are limits and laws to prevent incitement to racial hatred and incitement to violence and murder. Many European countries including Austria, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Switzerland and some U.S. states are acts of blasphemy. In the U.S., the constitutional right to freedom of expression can be suspended if it is considered likely to cause imminent lawlessness.
And the scope of crimes related to speech has increased steadily in Britain since the 7 / 7, with the introduction of the crimes related to the "glorification" of terrorism, a crime of discourse that may lead to prosecution and conviction long.

The key point here is that while the west believe that crime and insults are somehow an acceptable method of challenging an alternative, a right which must be defended and that Islam calls for an honest debate. And while the West may feel that their responsibilities with any system of thought aimed at the belief in God has been over for centuries, because of his defeat of the Church, the growing trend towards Islam challenges this hypothesis and challenges west to meet with an intellectual debate, unique traditions before the insult and offense are sent in the name defense of freedom of expression.
