Bottom Line: A fun back to the days when cartoons were directed mostly to children.
Sony's entry in the field of animation this holiday season is filled with "Planet 51", a cheerful but not terribly imaginative function aimed primarily at young people. Built by a Spanish company Ilion Animation Studios, this cartoon is a joke digital reinvention of the 1950 science fiction movie where the Earth face extinction by space invaders apparently extraterrestrial on a monthly basis. The twist in this film is that it has a terrified alien planet – a human astronaut.
Children can enjoy fast action and slapstick gags and laughter can adult caregivers in a few suggestive jokes, so the film should enjoy a strong opening the week before Thanksgiving. After that, "Disney's The Princess and the Frog" hits theaters, so that "Planet 51 is" box office could suffer a sharp drop.
The cartoon on the planet is inhabited by green people who have small antennas, four-fingered webbed hands and feet. His thoughts and culture is pure '50s, including music, comics and films that exploit fear of monsters and aliens. They even know to call these creatures outer space "humanoid."
Then he arrives.
Chuck (voiced by Dwayne Johnson) is not particularly bright – the spacecraft is in charge autopilot – but it certainly is friendly. However, people see an ugly green monster in a space suit, so flee in terror. Only Lem (Justin Long), A model student and aspiring astronomer may see your friendly face. Soon, his friend Skiff (Seann William Scott) and his not so friendly Neera (Jessica Biel) Chuck must hide from the likes of rough Grawl General (Gary Oldman) and Nutty Professor Kipple (who else – John Cleese), a scientist who wants to perform an extraction of the brain in every creature which is strange.
There are chases and comic misunderstandings that extend this idea of a single note for 90 minutes. When in doubt, the film cuts Chuck robot companion "Rover", a barking machine that collects all the rocks he finds.
Director Jorge Blanco and writer Joe Stillman, not only not mind if you attach your image and ideas derived from other films that promote it. References movie "ET" and "Close Encounters", plays "Singin 'in the Rain" on the soundtrack and makes sure that the signals Rover and several music reminiscent of "Star Wars."

When astronaut Captain Charles "Chuck" Baker lands his spaceship, thinking that nobody lives there, the inhabitants' paranoia is unleashed and the real adventure begins. Lem a young resident of Planet 51, who is fascinated by space from the outside world will help Chuck try to escape the authorities, to recover his spaceship and return home.
