One of the easiest ways to increase the percentage of clicks to the mind-blowing levels is through the images mixing and Adsense!
Placement of images near Adsense text links to help visitors manage their eyes right of publicity. They also help make the ads seem more content and less like the ads … which always means that people do more often.
Is this against the conditions service?
This tactic was adopted by Google … provided you follow the rules. You can not fool people to click on ads.
Images you choose should be general because if the image is very specific, the ratio of ads have nothing to do with it.
You should also contact Google directly and ask them whether they accept the way to implement this tactic. If not approved, I'll just say how to fix it and not get into trouble. If they find on their own they are breaking the rules, might not be so lucky.

An example of something you can not do is have an image of an arrow pointing in the ad. This is indirectly asking someone to click on their ads, which is against conditions of service. And of course you can not have an image that openly asking people to click on ads.

Where should obtain their images?
We like to use a photograph of the site that provides very nice looking images for free. Just go to: www.sxc.hu
And when we want more "cartoon" looking images, search through the collection of clip art from Microsoft here: http://office.microsoft.com/clipart
Have fun experimenting with this method and see if the images of different formats and better work for you. And be sure contact Google just got approval to be on safe side!
